Well…this is the Wikipedia definition for CMS. To simplify it, I will define the CMS (Content Management System) term to be the web script that helps you to create and maintain content and also helps you to make it public and share with people.

When you say Wordpress, people already know that you are talking about the best existing web CMS. Let me tell you why I think Wordpress is the best CMS. First of all, Wordpress is very flexible and it is very customizable, customizing as you might know is the main interest of every web developer or web entrepreneur. The second thing that makes Wordpress “special” is the fact that Automattic (the company responsible for Wordpress) has done the best to create a web community to help improving and growing it’s importance.
The Wordpress community is now one of the biggest web communities in the world and is currently building tons of useful plugins and designs for Wordpress users. If you don’t believe me and you still believe the contrary, I really encourage you to test Wordpress.

Drupal was for a long time my favorite CMS. Like Wordpress, Drupal is very easy to use and customize. You can create, customize and publish your work, articles, images and videos very easy and also you can control the design of your websites. The functionality of Drupal is very diversified. You can use Drupal to create E-Commerce websites, web blogs, pod casting, forums and of course personal websites.
